Question by TJ: About how much does it cost to have a locksmith drill through your lock to get into your apt?
Left my keys inside my apartment and had no choice but call a locksmith. Too many pins so he could not pick it so he had to use a drill. I want to see how much I was overcharged. I’m in the N.East US. Thx.

I wouldn’t try this on your apartment door at all. If your renting the place that means you don’t own the lock and the lock smith shouldn’t drill it. You should speak to your land lord, I’m sure he has a spare key to your place. You might be in trouble with your land lord for drilling the lock since you will have to put a new lock and key in and he wont have it if he needs to get it.

considering the price of a new door (breaking it down to get in), you didn’t get overcharged. You could have called the landlord, but, you chose not to. And if the price was important, why didn’t you shop around for the cheapest guy that could break in to your apartment? He had two hours of shop time, gas to get there, his overhead and his expertise to pay for, and you called him!
