Question by RicinCrispyTreats!: Do you agree with the quote, “I don’t want my country back, I want it forward.”?
What do you think? Should we regress or try to move past our problems? Reminds me of all those people who want to return to the good old days, but they forget that the good old days had segregation, sexism, higher car emissions, etc..

Retrospection rarely leaves room for negativity in those who can’t stand it.

I like that!
I’m annoyed by you
Word games are the pets of poets and politicians. They do not build bridges, create jobs or stop wars.
There is NO guarantee that going forward will be better
Go backwards, we at least know what’s in store for us…
I choose forward. Many have worked hard and fought and died to get past racism, sexism, segregation… it should not be in vain. Can’t put that cat back in the bag. @By vision but we know how bad it would be to go back
I think any answer that is given can be use to answer your way, damn if do and damn if you don’t?
Had lower crime, better financial security, more stable families..
Yeah.. the “good old days” were horrible.
I see you’ve set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.
That’s exactly what the Republicans want. Look at stem cell research. The world is changing and unless we evolve with it we will lose our spot as the worlds leader. All the Repubs care about is dominance of the rich white
the country isn’t going anywhere – backwards, forwards, sideways
it’s the government that getting out of control- bloated, ineffieicnt and just too big
The problem with progressives is that they only see the immedial future….not the regressin their progression will later cause.
I like the quote. Of course, we can all disagree over the meaning of “forward.” But it’s a good quote, and you make an excellent point. The “good old days” — weren’t.
I would like all the evil that is trying to ruin the country right now to go back to the hole the climbed out of. I want the country to go back to the principles it was founded upon.
mexicans don’t want just mexico, they want it all.
Sure, but does “progress” have to mean massive government debt, more and more entitlements, a decline in the importance of personal responsibility and self sufficiency, and more and more regulation of everything?
We need to stop spending like drunken sailors. My quote is “I want my country fiscally responsible”
Well I don’t know about you, but if taking a step back means a better government, more responsible spending, and better politicians then the entire country has taken a major step forward.
There is no thing as going back. There is only forward.
Anyone who argues otherwise is self-delusional.
